GIRLS ALOUD - COYLE: 'CHEATING METCALFE REPORTS ARE WRONG'

GIRLS ALOUD singer NADINE COYLE has defended her actor ex JESSE METCALFE, insisting reports he cheated on her with a mystery brunette are wildly inaccurate. The British pop star, 21, was said to have ended her 14-month relationship with the Desperate Housewives star in April (07) after photographs emerged of Metcalfe holding hands with another woman. But Coyle insists her former love did not betray her and the romance failed because of the pressure of their long-distance relationship and hectic work schedules. She says, "I had gone to LA when he was in rehab and it was just too hard to keep the relationship going. We broke up then and I just said to him, 'You sort yourself out and I'll do my thing then we'll see what happens after that.' "I didn't put out any announcement about us splitting up because I didn't think anyone would be interested. "The first time he was seen in public after he came out was when he was photographed holding hands with a girl and everyone assumed he was cheating on me. "But he wasn't, because at that time we weren't together."
