BUCK OWENS - COUNTRY STAR HOLLY DEAD AT 70

Country star DOYLE HOLLY, who doubled as BUCK OWENS' bass player, lost his battle with prostate cancer on Saturday (13JAN07). He was 70. Born in Oklahoma, he became a big name on the live country circuit when Owens hired him to play bass in his backing band THE BUCKAROOS in the early 1960s. Holly features on Owens' THE CARNEGIE HALL CONCERT album, which is considered among the best live country albums of all time. He quit the group in 1973 to concentrate on a solo career and enjoyed hits with tracks like LILA throughout the 1970s.
