ALICE COOPER - COOPER HAILED LIVING LEGEND BY MAY

ALICE COOPER was toasted by a string of rock colleagues last night (06NOV06) when he picked up a Living Legend award in London from QUEEN star BRIAN MAY. The former hellraiser was also presented with a GBP50,000 ($90,000) portrait at the Classic Rock magazine prize giving. Queen were the other big winners at the show at London's Langham Hotel. The band's stars May and ROGER TAYLOR picked up the Classic Songwriter award while Queen also won Best Reissue for the album A NIGHT AT THE OPERA. DEF LEPPARD, IRON MAIDEN and the NEW YORK DOLLS were also honoured. The latter were not at the event but won Comeback of the Year, as voted by magazine readers and staff.
