COLDPLAY - COLDPLAY NAMED BIGGEST SELLING ACT IN WORLD AT WMAS
Coldplay have been crowned the world's best selling recording act at the World Music awards (WMAs) in Monaco.
The quartet's latest album Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends smashed British sales records, as well as topping the charts in the US, Japan, Germany and France.
The Violet Hill stars were also named best rock act at the Monaco ceremony, defeating the likes of Kings of Leon and Metallica.
Kid Rock and Leona Lewis also took home two awards each at the show, held on behalf of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
The Detroit rocker took both the best pop male and best pop/rock male prizes while X Factor winner Leona scooped the female pop gong as well as being named best new artists.
Mariah Carey took the special achievement prize while Beyonce - who performed at the ceremony - was awarded an outstanding contribution to the arts trophy.
And Beatles drummer Ringo Starr collected the Diamond Award on behalf of his band's album sales of more than 100 million.
