GEORGE CLOONEY - CLOONEY BREAKS RIB IN BIKE ACCIDENT

Hollywood actor George Clooney has broken a rib after a motorcycle accident in New Jersey, according to his spokesman.

The Oscar-winning film star was riding on a narrow road when his bike collided with a car. His girlfriend, who was on the two-wheeler with the actor, broke her foot in the accident.

Clooney and his companion, Sarah Larson, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The actor's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, said: "He's doing fine. He has a broken rib, it's very painful and it'll take a long time to heal."

The Associated Press news agency reports a local police officer as saying that Clooney's motorcycle had accelerated to overtake a Mazda as both vehicles approached a right turn.

Sergeant Sean Kelly, who is investigating the accident, said: "It's a he-said, she-said right now, but you can't pass on the right in Weehawken or anywhere in Jersey."

Clooney's publicist told the news agency that the accident occurred after the driver of the car turned right in spite of signalling the other way.

The 46-year-old Oceans Thirteen star is in New York to shoot scenes for a forthcoming film.
