JESUS CHRIST - CHRIST REFERENCE TURNS DENZEL THRILLER INTO A COMEDY

A reference to JESUS CHRIST had to be taken out of the climax of DENZEL WASHINGTON and JIM CAVIEZEL's new movie because film fans found the scene at the end of the tense thriller hilarious. Director TONY SCOTT had to remove the 'Jesus!' line in DEJA VU after forgetting Caviezel played the religious icon in MEL GIBSON's epic THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. The line comes at the end of a tense car chase, as Washington's agent character comes face to face with his foe, played by Caviezel, for the first time. Scott explains, "Denzel has a scene where he spins the car and comes face to face with Caviezel and he says, 'Jesus.' We completely overlooked that. "On the first screening there was a terrible roar of laughter from the audience."
