RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS - CHILI PEPPERS SUE US NETWORK OVER SHOW'S NAME

The RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS are suing US network Showtime over the name of its new show CALIFORNICATION.
The rock band claims that the title is "immediately associated" with their 1999 hit CD and DVD of the same name.
Front man ANTHONY KIEDIS said: "CALIFORNICATION' is the signature CD, video and song of the band's career, for some TV show to come along and steal our identity is not right."
The TV show CALIFORNICATION sees DAVID DUCHOVNY starring as Dani California, a writer going through a midlife crisis.
There is further contention over the character's name, Dani California, which was the title of a 2006 single by the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.
According to movie website Hollywood.com the band are accusing TV producers of using their song titles to give the show "buzz factor".
In the past, CALIFORNICATION's creator and executive producer has claimed he got the idea for the title after seeing bumper stickers in the 1970s that said "Dont Californicate Oregon".

Just to let you know that the character that Mr Duchovny plays in
Californication is not Dani California.........where on earth did you come up
with that? His character's name is Hank Moody.
