Actor CHAD LOWE has been hailed a hero after rescuing a dying dog. The 24 star and ex-husband of Oscar winner Hilary Swank was surfing on a Malibu, California beach earlier this month (2Mar08) when he spotted a woman struggling with her pet, which had collapsed and was lying motionless on rocks. The animal became dehydrated after a long walk and drank sea water, which made it more sick. A source tells the U.S. tabloid National Enquirer, "Chad was just coming out of the surf when he spotted the woman, who was clearly distressed because of her dog. He sprang into action and rounded up a few other guys to help him put this huge German shepherd mix onto his surfboard, which they used as a stretcher. "She was so grateful and thanked Chad for saving her dog's life."
