NICK CAVE - CAVE REFUSES TO LET HIS MUSIC BE USED FOR COMMERCIALS
Rocker NICK CAVE insists he will never allow his music to be used in an advertisement, although he was once tempted by the large amount of money one firm offered him. The Australian star finds it "offensive" when musicians sell their songs to promote a product and is determined never to follow suit. He says, "I personally find (it) offensive. IGGY POP's LUST FOR LIFE was used for a car ad. I used to drive around in my car when I was 19 screaming that song, and it had an anti-establishment purpose. For it now to be appropriated by the advertising industry... I think that's f**ked. "I don't know what situation the people who have written the music are in, if they need the money. I'm not trying to take the moral high ground but I wouldn't allow my music to be used in that way. "A sanitary napkin company back in New Zealand wanted to use (my song RED RIGHT HAND), which was tempting, but that's the closest I've come. "You do get an enormous amount of money waved in front of you, more money than you make anywhere else in the industry, and all you have to do is say yes."
