LEONA LEWIS' record-breaking reign at the top of the U.S. album charts is set to be short lived - MARIAH CAREY is already making a move on the number one spot.
Carey's new release, E=MC2, opened with 154,000 sales in its first day on release (15Apr08), and chart experts predict the album will net one of the biggest opening weeks in recent years.
By comparison, Billboard.com reports country star Carrie Underwood's hit album Carnival Ride enjoyed opening day sales of 150,000 and went on to debut at the top with an impressive 527,000 first-week haul.
Carey's last album, The Emancipation of Mimi, debuted at number one on The Billboard 200 in 2005 with first-week sales of 404,000 copies.
