BUSH REJECTED ROTTEN'S SONG
Punk legend JOHNNY ROTTEN once wrote a song for KATE BUSH - but the British singer refused to record it. The Sex Pistols frontman composed the track especially for the Wuthering Heights hitmaker who misunderstood the lyrics, fearing they were insults aimed at her. Rotten - real name John Lydon - explains, "Years ago, I sent her a song I'd written. I don't think she understood it. It was called Bird In Hand. It was about the illegal exportation of parrots from South America - no, don't laugh! It's a serious subject. It's cruel. "But I think she thought it was a reference to her, which it certainly wasn't! But she's a wonderful, wonderful woman, stunningly innovative and creative. One of our finest."
