DEAD OR ALIVE - BURNS FLOUTS SMOKING BAN

Former DEAD OR ALIVE singer PETE BURNS was threatened with police intervention when he flouted England's new smoking ban in a restaurant. The star and new 'husband' Michael Simpson were eating at fast food chain Little Chef in Bicester, Oxfordshire when he lit up on Tuesday (31Jul07) - contravening a ban on smoking in public places that came into force on 1 July (07). Burns was ordered to extinguish the cigarette three separate times by management, who then threatened to call in the police. The singer calmly continued to smoke as he finished his coffee, before walking out unpunished.
