BUCKCHERRY FIGHT BACK OVER ENTICEMENT SUIT
US rockers BUCKCHERRY are planning to get tough with a girl suing the band for allegedly coercing her to expose her breasts and kiss another female in a new video. The unidentified 16-year-old has filed suit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against the band and its record company, Atlantic Records, claiming she was given alcohol at the video shoot and filmed after answering a call for extras posted on the band's MySpace page. If the teenager's claims are true, the band and their management face serious enticement of a minor charges. The girl, who is claiming emotional distress after the video was widely distributed online, is seeking unspecified damages. Her lawyer, DOUGLAS SILVERMAN, says, "She's been called a lesbian at school. She's had to switch schools because of that video." But Buckcherry are refusing to take the matter lying down, and have instructed lawyers to "vigorously" defend the suit, filed almost a year after the strip club-style video was shot at Los Angeles venue The Key Club. The group's lawyer claims the girl must have used a fake ID to get access to the video shoot, noting that participants had to sign a release form and show proof that they were over 18. Buckcherry's manager, ALLEN KOVAC, says, "There was every opportunity for her not to be in that video. For whatever reason, the girl subverted those efforts, and now her mom is trying to blame everyone but her." A spokeswoman for the group adds, "The casting ad called for talent over 18 only, signs were posted to that effect at the venue and IDs were checked. This person signed a talent release form and verified her age by writing what we have now discovered to be a false birth date on the release to match her phony ID. "She was later seen boasting into the camera about her exploits in the video." Buckcherry have since edited the video and have cut out footage featuring the teenager.
