LATEST: A U.S. judge has ruled an auction of soul legend JAMES BROWN's belongings will go ahead after it was put on hiatus in a row over the proceeds.
The singer's former business managers, Buddy Dallas and Alford Bradley, tried to halt the sale of his clothes, capes and jewellery after learning the cash raised would go to his estate.
They claimed the Godfather of Soul would have wanted the profits donated instead to a trust fund for underprivileged children.
But on Monday (14Jul08) South Carolina Court of Appeals Judge Jasper Cureton lifted a temporary block that would have delayed the sale, allowing it to go forward as planned.
Bidding will take place at Christie's auction house in New York on Thursday (17Jul08).
Brown died of heart failure on Christmas Day in 2006 at the age of 73.
