Stephen Fry, Victoria Wood and Jim Broadbent are all in the running for an International Emmy, after the nominations were announced yesterday.

Fry - currently garnering critical acclaim for his documentary HIV and Me, has been shortlisted in the best documentary category for his revealing programme The Secret Life of a Manic Depressive.

Wood has followed her RTS and Bafta wins for her role in ITV1 period drama Housewife 49 with a nomination in the best actress category, while Broadbent - starring in And When Did You Last See Your Father - has received a best actor nomination for his role in BBC1's The Street.

The Jimmy McGovern-scripted show also received a nod in the best drama category.

British historian Simon Schama is another UK nominee, recognised in the arts programming category for his BBC2 series The Power of Art, while More 4's controversial assassination drama Death of a President is up for the best TV movie award.

Little Britain Abroad, the sketch show's Christmas special, is named in the best comedy category, while BBC1's How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria is shortlisted in the non-scripted entertainment category.

The UK received more than twice as many nominations last year, with time-travel series Life on Mars taking the best drama award and Ray Winstone named best actor for Vincent.

The 2007 International Emmy awards will be held in New York on November 9th.
