Britney Spears will be allowed to visit her children "very soon" after reaching an agreement with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, according to his lawyer.

Attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, said both parents had agreed to a revision of a court order which had stripped the pop star of her visitation rights and Britney could see her sons shortly.

Mr Kaplan said "The process of reinstating the children's mother as a participant in their lives can commence."

The 26-year-old lost her rights to visit Jayden James, one, and Sean Preston, two, after refusing to hand them back to their father after a visit, resulting in the police being called to her house.

After the incident, Spears and her estate were placed under the temporary conservatorship of her father James and the singer was temporarily hospitalised.

Britney must still undergo a court-ordered evaluation, the report from which must be turned in ten days prior to the hearing. The evaluation will be a crucial in determining Britney's readiness to care for her children, according to Kaplan.
