BRITISH SEA POWER - BRITISH SEA POWER STAR KNOCKED OUT MID-GIG
BRITISH SEA POWER rocker PHIL SUMNER was taken to hospital on Wednesday (23Jan08) night after knocking himself out mid-concert. The cornet player decided to jump off a 12-foot-high stack of amplifiers during the band's encore performance in Leeds, England - but he landed on his chin, sustaining a cut and leaving him unconscious. Sumner was taken from the venue to a nearby hospital in an ambulance. Doctors have diagnosed a concussion and a broken molar, and the musician now requires stitches to his chin. He is expected to make a full recovery. Sumner isn't the only British Sea Power member to have injured himself recently - drummer Matthew Wood is currently recovering from a back injury at home, and has been replaced temporarily by Tom White for the band's U.K. tour.
