BOY GEORGE 'IMPRISONS ESCORT'

Culture Club frontman Boy George has been charged with the false imprisonment of a 28-year-old man, police have confirmed.

The singer and DJ - real name George O'Dowd - is alleged to have chained a male escort to a radiator at Boy George's home in Ravey Street, Hackney, east London on April 28th.

The Karma Chameleon star - who last year completed a community service order in New York after missing a court date in relation to a drug charge - has been bailed and will appear before Thames magistrates court on November 22nd.

"George O'Dowd, 47, a musician of Ravey Street, EC2, is charged with the false imprisonment of a 28-year-old man in Ravey Street on 28th April 2007," a police spokesman said.

Auden Carlsen had alleged in April that Boy George had chained him to a wall after the pair had arranged to meet on the website Gaydar, though Mr Carlsen denies he was working as an escort and says he was paid by the singer to pose for photographs.

He claimed Boy George and another man chained him to a wall and told the Daily Mail at the time: "I was convinced I was going to die.

"George handcuffed me to a hook by the bed as they held me down."

The 28-year-old Norwegian said he had escaped by pulling the hook from the wall and fleeing to a nearby newsagents.
