BOY GEORGE CANCELS U.S. TOUR
LATEST: Former CULTURE CLUB frontman BOY GEORGE has officially cancelled his forthcoming U.S. tour after he was refused permission to enter the country.
The British singer - real name George O'Dowd - had a visa application turned down because of his 2006 conviction for lying about a burglary at his New York apartment.
The star had scheduled a series of solo shows which would have taken him across the U.S. this summer (08), but now all of the gigs have been scrapped as his management have failed to rectify the visa situation.
O'Dowd was due to kick off the tour in Aspen, Colorado on 10 July (08), wrapping the roadshow with a final gig in Dallas, Texas on 23 August (08).

To Boy George's loyal fans!
Please sign the online petition directed to the US State Department requesting that
Boy George be allowed to enter the US for his summer US tour!
www dot petitiononline dot com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?govisa08
Send it to other fans, post it on MySpace & Facebook, post it on forums, help get
the word out!
WHAT KIND OF MANAGEMENT CANNOT "RECTIFY" GEORGE'S APPLICATION? This is such nonsense!!
Maybe George did or didn't "cry wolf"about a burglary. IF George is guilty , then
keep some of his proceeds towards charities..but why should he not be able to perform/
tour for the US citizens? We love him, and if the US visa Administration feels this
way, it shouldn't be held against us, the fans! This appears to be a sort of "bullying"
over petty nonsense...and I feel this "energy" would be better spent on the illegal peo
ple crossing our borders & causing problems. I apologize to Mr. O'Dowd for this..I
hope he realizes that this is not the sentiment of his fans in the US. In fact,
the government itself doesn't harbor any negative feelings towards George, either.
They are just mis-guided sometimes on when to show "muscle". It's a shame. PLEASE
come back, GEORGE!!
