i agree with smokey. it is a painfully slow process but the mild successes are overshadowed in the media by the drama of the massive losses and corruption. many successes were documented when Bono visited Africa this past May. but regarding promises made last July in Edinburgh, most benchmarks were not reached or in some cases seem to be taken seriously let alone approached at all. and the responsibility now falls to us, those who Bono affectionately refers to as soccer moms and NASCAR dads, to from the bottom up must confront our legislators and leaders to let them know it's a serious matter to us and if they wish my support and vote, and those of any i can influence, these matters most certainly should become both a priority and taken seriously. the one-year report can be found at DATA.org. it is worth a peek! stay close, sammi

The public isn't pushing our leaders to comply with G8 promises because the public does not comprehend the problems in Africa. All the public sees is that money doesn't immediately bring Africa up to scratch. Pockets of hope seem to be overrun by bad news of violence and signs of incompetence. The U.S. and Europe don't care and don't really want to help or understand Africa. As Bono quotes, Jesus said, "what you do to the least of me, you do to me also." As long as there is one hungry or sick person in the world, we (Christians) have not finished our work..
