The title of the 22nd James Bond movie has been confirmed as Quantum of Solace.

Filming recently began on the film, with Daniel Craig set to reprise his role as the secret agent.

Though the title gives away few clues as to the movie's plot, it is the title of a short story by Ian Fleming in the For Your Eyes only collection.

However James Bond is somewhat of a secondary character in Fleming's original story, which features 007 attending a dinner party in Nassau in the Bahamas and being regaled with a tale of an expatriate affair.

Finding Neverland helmer Marc Forster is directing the 22nd film in the franchise, believing to commence soon after the conclusion of Casino Royale, which saw Bond betrayed by double agent Vesper Lynd.

Craig will be donning his tuxedo once more while French actor Mathieu Amalric, star of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, is to play the villain of the piece, portraying " a leading member of the villainous organisation introduced in Casino Royale", according to producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

In a statement accompanying the commencement of principal photography, they added: "We are fortunate to continue in the Bond tradition of attracting the finest international actors for our starring roles. Mathieu… will be a powerful counterpart to Daniel's portrayal of Bond.

"Olga Kurylenko will play the dangerously alluring Camille, who challenges Bond and helps him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper's betrayal."

St Trinian's star Gemma Arterton is to make her Bond debut as MI6 operative Agent Fields while Judi Dench will return as M, alongside Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter and Giancarlo Giannini as Mathis.

Quantum of Solace is released in the UK on November 7th.
