LEONARDO DICAPRIO - BLOOD DIAMOND TOPS UK BOX OFFICE

Action thriller BLOOD DIAMOND has climbed to the top spot at the UK box office. The movie, which stars LEONARDO DiCAPRIO as a South African mercenary on the hunt for a priceless gem, raked in GBP1.2 million ($2.3 million). Part animated adventure ARTHUR AND THE INVISIBLES and psychological drama NOTES ON A SCANDAL were pushed into second and third place. Musical DREAMGIRLS had to settle for fourth place, while boxing sequel ROCKY BALBOA, number one last week (begs29JAN07), drops to number five after being knocked out by the competition. JAMES BOND smash CASINO ROYALE remains in the top ten nearly three months after its November (06) release.
