The members of CROSBY, STILLS, NASH + YOUNG, GENESIS and LED ZEPPELIN all reunited to pay tribute to late music mogul AHMET ERTEGUN in New York on Tuesday night (17Apr07). Neil Young performed Helplessly Hoping with David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash before bringing guests to tears with a duet of Buffalo Springfield hit Mr Soul with Nash, while the reformed Genesis played Follow You, Follow Me. Phil Collins also played his In The Air Tonight hit on piano - without the song's famous drum explosion, which Atlantic Records boss Ertegun once insisted he added. The members of Led Zeppelin also turned up to the star-studded memorial but didn't play. Among the other stars that did were Dr John and Eric Clapton, who teamed up for a version of Atlantic Records' first hit, Drinking Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee, Solomon Burke, Wynton Marsalis, Bette Midler, Kid Rock and Sam Moore. Thrilled Midler said, "Only Ahmet could have brought this group of people together." Atlantic Records founder Ertegun died in December (06) after seven weeks in a coma following a fall at a Rolling Stones concert.
