FRIENDS - BERGMAN LAID TO REST

Legendary film director Ingmar Bergman was buried today on the Swedish island of Faro.
Only a small group of family and friends were present for the funeral and burial at Faro church, located close to where the screen and stage director had lived.
The 89-year-old, who died on July 30th, was buried in a plain wooden coffin on a site he had chosen himself, according to reports.
The Associated Press news agency reports actors including Liv Ullmann, Bibi Andersson, Peter Stormare and Erland Josephson as being among the mourners at his funeral.
Bergman, widely viewed as being one of the best European directors of his generation, won three Oscars during his career.
Survived by nine children from a number of relationships, including directors Eva and Daniel, actors Liv, Anna and Matts and writer Linn, Bergman's work was known for its examinations of existentialism.
He married five times, the most recent ending in 2005 when Ingrid von Rosen died after battling cancer.
