CORINNE BAILEY RAE - BAILEY RAE 'DEVASTATED' BY HUSBAND'S DEATH

LATEST: British soul star CORINNE BAILEY RAE has been left devastated after her musician husband was found dead from a suspected drugs overdose. The body of saxophonist Jason Rae, 31, was discovered in a flat in Leeds, England on Saturday (22Mar08). The singer's record company EMI has released a statement announcing that the star is too distraught to speak about her loss and urging the press to give her time to come to terms with the tragedy. The statement reads, "EMI Records would like to offer its sincere condolences to Corinne Bailey Rae and the Rae family at this tragic time. We ask that the media respects Corinne's privacy and that of her entire family." Police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries. A post-mortem examination carried out on Rae's body on Saturday night proved inconclusive and officials are now awaiting the results of a toxicology report. An inquest into Rae's death is expected to be opened later this week (beg24Mar08). Rae was a member of the Haggis Horns which has backed up stars including Bailey Rae, Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson, and released its debut album Hot Damn! in September 2007. Bailey Rae, 29, met her husband while working as a cloakroom attendant at a Leeds jazz club. They married in 2001.
