AMITABH BACHCHAN - BACHCHAN LAND CASE CONTESTED

LATEST: Bollywood superstar AMITABH BACHCHAN has faced further investigations into land he is accused of falsely acquiring by declaring himself a farmer. The 64-year-old actor surrendered his farmland in the states of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh in India - areas which his wife Jaya represents in parliament - following the allegations. Police from the Pune region of Maharashtra have launched an inquiry into the land purchased by Bachchan, with four officers visiting the plots on Monday (20Aug07). A senior official says, "'The team, which reached Barabanki this noon, later left for Pune after taking photocopies of all the documents related to the land." The case is now being contested in Allahab High Court.
