PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - ANOTHER LANDMARK FOR PHANTOM

Broadway's longest-running show, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, became the first stage spectacular to reach 8,500 performances on Thursday night (03Jul08).
The production, which opened in January 1988, became the longest-running show in Broadway history on 9 January, 2006.
It has played more than 1,000 performances since breaking the record.
