ANNA NICOLE SMITH'S SON DIES, THREE DAYS AFTER DAUGHTER BORN

ANNA NICOLE SMITH is in mourning after her 20-year-old son died suddenly in the Bahamas yesterday (10SEP06), just three days after she gave birth to a girl. The 38-year-old former model has not revealed the cause of DANIEL SMITH's death. Smith's lawyer HOWARD K STERN says in a statement, "We have yet to learn the cause of death but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor. "Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being." Smith welcomed her daughter into the world on Thursday (07SEP06). The baby, whose name has yet to be announced, was born in the Bahamas and weighed six pounds and nine ounces. She was conceived with photojournalist LARRY BIRKHEAD, who is currently estranged from Smith.
