Rocker JOAN JETT has included samples of PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH and former U.S. Secretary of Defence DONALD RUMSFELD speaking on a new album track in a bid to show voters how the current American administration is out to confuse the masses. The I Love Rock 'n' Roll singer gets political on new CD Sinner after watching U.S. troops heading off to war with Iraq during a tour of duty in Oman several years ago. The memory of watching confused young men trying to come to terms with a Middle Eastern conflict made Jett test her nerve as a political songwriter, which has given her new album - and in particular opening track Riddles - an edge. She says, "I was doing USO (United Service Organisations) things and as soon as 9/11 happened my partner/producer and I went to Afghanistan; we played in Pakistan and Uzbekistan. This is late 2001. "We saw them moving a lot of troops and equipment when we were in Oman... and we were like, 'Wow, this is great, you guys are really sending all this to Afghanistan?' 'No, we're going to Iraq.' "You're talking about a year before the war started. We were like, 'Are you sure..?' So it was decided months after 9/11 they're going. They (politicians) just had to find a way to convince the Congress and the people that it was gonna be OK. "Seeing that from the inside was more ammunition."
