JULIE ANDREWS found it tough being a child star - but credits her busy lifestyle as a youngster as the "best training I could have had". THE SOUND OF MUSIC actress performed in UK music halls during her childhood before moving to Broadway aged 19, and pretended she was content with her new-found fame, despite being very lonely. She says, "I had not too many friends. Mostly I was alone. "I think I protested endlessly that I was the happiest girl in the world. Actually, it was pretty bad, the nasty digs, the bad trains, the grubby theatres, but it proved to be the best training I could have had."
