British rocker BRETT ANDERSON refuses to read the music press because he is fed up with the doting "middle-aged" attitude given to classic rock acts. The former SUEDE frontman, who releases his debut solo single in the UK next week (begs12MAR07), resents the implication that contemporary music is somehow inferior. He tells London's Time Out magazine, "I get so bored of picking up magazines and reading about (THE BEACH BOYS album) PET SOUNDS. I like to think the greatest music has yet to be made. "I hate this backward-looking attitude. It's definitely got a lot to do with iPods, that need to file things, like, 'This is the greatest album of all time!' "I find it so lifeless, so safe, and middle-aged and middle-class. It's horrible."
