WES ANDERSON - ANDERSON DENIES WILSON SUICIDE LINKS

New York Film Festival's opening night premiere of Wes Anderson's 'The Darjeeling Limited' at Avery Fisher Hall --Arrivals
New York City, USA ....
Director WES ANDERSON has denied a connection between OWEN WILSON's character in new movie THE DARJEELING LIMITED and his real-life suicide attempt. Anderson is furious with film critics for likening Wilson's character - who is recovering from a failed suicide attempt - to his real-life crisis in August (07). He says, "The fact is that Owen's - what do we call it? - experience over the past few months cannot be connected to this film in any way. "The whole thing is just beyond bad timing. But that character is not based on Owen. People just say, 'Oh, this character tried to kill himself and look, there's Owen Wilson in real life.'" The Wedding Crashers star is in recovery after he was rushed to hospital after slashing his wrists at his home in Santa Monica, California, this summer (07).
