AMY WINEHOUSE TO REPORT TO POLICE AFTER ASSAULT CLAIMS
Amy Winehouse is to report to police over claims that she assaulted a man after a night out in London earlier this week.
The troubled singer has been accused by a 38-year-old man of attacking him in the early hours of yesterday morning.
According to reports Winehouse, 24, attacked the man after he tried to help her into a taxi.
A spokesman for the singer said: "Amy will be voluntarily attending a London police station by appointment with the police.
"We understand that she will be questioned in connection with an alleged incident in Camden in the early hours of April 23rd."
The tabloid press claimed on Thursday that the alleged victim is one of three people assaulted by Winehouse during a night out in Camden with Babyshambles guitarist Mik Whitnall.
A Metropolitan police spokeswoman said yesterday that officers were investigating an alleged assault on Chalk Farm Road at 03:20 BST on Wednesday.
"A 38-year-old man attended Kentish Town police station yesterday where he claimed a 24-year-old woman assaulted him," she said.
Winehouse could face six months in jail if charged and subsequently convicted.
Earlier this week the Back to Black singer received three nominations for the prestigious Ivor Novello songwriting awards.
2008 has already seen the singer walk away with five Grammys despite constant allegations of drug-taking and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil being imprisoned on remand on a charge of conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
