AMY WINEHOUSE SCOOPS IVOR NOVELLO AWARD

Amy Winehouse has claimed one of the highest honours in songwriting after her track Love Is A Losing Game won an Ivor Novello award.

The Rehab star's Love Is A Losing Game took the best song musically and lyrically prize at the ceremony at London's Grosvenor Park Hotel today, with the singer's father Mitch collecting the award on her behalf.

"Unfortunately Amy couldn't make it, but she is getting better and sends you all her love," he said.

"She has asked me to thank the Ivors for being the first to recognise her songwriting talents."

Her track You Know I'm No Good was almost nominated for the main prize, while Rehab was named in the best-selling song category, eventually losing out to Beyonce and Shakira's Beautiful Liar.

Take That took the most played song prize for Shine while Cherry Ghosts' People Help the People was a surprise winner in the best contemporary song category, beating Klaxons' Golden Skans and Foundations by Kate Nash.
