AMY WINEHOUSE and JOSS STONE have taken time out from their headline-grabbing music careers to help launch a new campaign aiming to raising awareness of hearing loss.

The two singers are amongst a host of high-profile stars also including electro-wizard MOBY, opera legend PLACIDO DOMINGO and crooner HARRY BELAFONTE who have lent their support to the Hear The World initiative by hearing aid company Phonak.

Appearing in a series of images taken by celebrity photographer BRYAN ADAMS, the music celebrities are hoping to increase people's knowledge of the importance of maintaining good hearing, and the dangers of hearing loss.

"Being able to hear means that you can enjoy all the sounds of the world," said Joss, explaining her involvement in the campaign.

"I don't want to imagine it. I'd be lost," she commented, when asked to imagine life without her hearing.

The Sun reported that 500 million people worldwide are currently hearing impaired, with the number expected to increase to 700 million by the year 2015.
