ALVES' EMERGENCY C-SECTION

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY's girlfriend CAMILA ALVES was forced to deliver their newborn son by emergency Caesarian section, after his umbilical cord threatened to choke him during labour.
The couple were determined to give Levi a natural birth and instructed doctors at Santa Monica's UCLA Medical Center in California only to step in if the baby's health was in danger.
After more than two days in labour, Alves' contractions were causing problems for the unborn baby - so medical staff intervened.
MCConaughey tells OK! Magazine, "He came out with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, so it was the right thing to do."
Alves adds, "I didn't want to have a C-section, but they had to make a decision about what was best for the baby and best for me."
