LILY ALLEN preferred life when she was a struggling musician, because she thrived off the constant rejection from record companies and managers. The pop star, 22, rose to fame in the summer of 2006, when she gained recognition as an artist through her page on social networking site MySpace. She went on to achieve massive chart success in her native U.K. with the hit single, Smile. But Allen wasn't impressed with the world she had longed to be a part of when she finally hit the big time. She says, "I wasn't happy a year and a half ago. I'd kind of enjoyed being rejected by record companies and managers. It was almost like having a relationship with an abusive boyfriend, like I thrived on it. "When all that changed I didn't know how to deal with it. And then it all became a little bit goldfish bowl-ly."
