ALL TV ON THE INTERNET?

Google CEO Eric Schmidt has predicted that television networks and film studios will eventually put their products on YouTube and other video websites. In an interview for Bloomberg TV's Conversations with Judy Woodruff, Schmidt said, "Eventually all of the copyrighted content will be available on virtually all of the sites. ... The growth of YouTube, the growth of online, is so fundamental that these companies are going to be forced to work with and in the Internet." But Schmidt conceded that reaching that goal has become "more complicated than we anticipated." Negotiations with media companies have bogged down, and in the case of Viacom, some 100,000 clips from its cable-TV shows and movies were suddenly yanked. "It's been more difficult to navigate through the very complicated business structures that the media companies have erected," Schmidt said.
