AL GORE - AL GORE TIPPED FOR NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

Politician-turned-moviemaker AL GORE has been tipped to win the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work promoting awareness of global warming. Gore's environmental film AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH is the third biggest-grossing documentary of all time, and features the former US Vice President highlighting the damage climate change is causing across the world. STEIN TOENNESSON, head of the Oslo Peace Research Institute lauded Gore for using his political influence to promote awareness, saying, "The issue of global warming is also very topical and it wouldn't be impossible for the Nobel committee to honour a person combating this threat. "In such case, Al Gore seems to me to be a possible candidate." The winner of the prestigious prize will be announced in October (07).
