AEROSMITH'S STEVEN TYLER SAYS REHAB WAS FOR FOOT INJURY

Steven Tyler has explained that his admission to a rehabilitation facility earlier this month was on doctor's orders after foot operations.

The Aerosmith frontman was renowned for his substance abuse in the 1970s, with he and guitarist Joe Perry dubbed the 'Toxic Twins'.

And after reports of his checking into a rehab facility emerged, it was believed the Walk This Way star may have fallen back into dangerous habits.

However, a statement released through his representatives has confirmed that he was admitted after a series of foot surgeries on his stage-hardened feet necessitated a recuperation period.

"The doctors told me the pain in my feet could be corrected but it would require a few surgeries over time," he explained.

"The 'foot repair' pain was intense, greater than I'd anticipated. The months of rehabilitative care and the painful strain of physical therapy were traumatic.

"I really needed a safe environment to recuperate where I could shut off my phone and get back on my feet."

Tyler was quick to confound rumours that his ailments could see the end of his musical career, saying: "Make no mistake, Aerosmith has no plans to stop rocking.

"There's a new album to record, then another tour."

The singer, 60, is the father of Lord of the Rings star Liv Tyler, though her mother, famous model and groupie Bebe Buell, initially told her daughter that guitarist Todd Rundgren was her father, due to Tyler's substance abuse problems.
