ACTRESS DABNEY DIES

Veteran U.S. TV actress AUGUSTA DABNEY has died following an extended illness. She was 89. Dabney, who was best known for her role as Isabelle Alden in soap opera Loving, passed away at her home in Dobbs Ferry, New York on Monday (04Feb08). Born in Berkeley, California in 1918, Dabney moved to New York in 1937 to study at the American Academy Of Dramatic Arts. She starred on the Broadway stage, but is more recognised for appearing in nine television soap operas, including Young Doctor Malone and Loving, on which she had a regular character between 1983 and 1995. Dabney also starred in movies including The Heartbreak Kid, Running On Empty and The Paper.
