SEAN PENN - ACTORS SEAN PENN AND ROBIN WRIGHT WITHDRAW DIVORCE PETITION

Sean Penn and his wife Robin Wright Penn have decided to give their marriage another try after withdrawing their petition for a divorce.

The Hollywood pair had begun divorce proceedings in December, with Wright Penn citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reasons for the split.

But a court in Marin County, California, has this week dismissed her divorce petition at a hearing neither party attended.

Though Penn - an Oscar-winner in 2004 for Mystic River - was spotted several times in the company of model Petra Nemcova this year, he and Wright Penn were this week seen at an Eddie Vedder concert together.

Pearl Jam frontman Vedder, who contributed to the soundtrack of Penn's recent movie Into the Wild, permitted Penn to come onstage to dedicate a song to his wife, who was celebrating her 42nd birthday.

The couple have been married for 11 years and have two teenage boys.

Wright Penn is best known for her role in Message in a Bottle but has featured in numerous Hollywood studio films, including Forrest Gump, The Singing Detective and, most recently, Beowulf.
