50 CENT - 50 CENT SUED BY MOTHER OF HIS SON

50 CENT's ex-girlfriend is suing the rapper for trying to evict her and their 10-year-old son from their Long Island, New York home. Shaniqua Tompkins filed legal papers in Manhattan on Wednesday (03Apr08) accusing 50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - of breach of contract and unjust enrichment. Tompkins' lawyer Paul Catsandonis explains this means the hip-hop star reneged on a promise to give his client and their son, Marquise, a home. Catsandonis says, "This was a house that was promised to Shaniqua up until the closing. Then he decided not to put it in her name. Now he's trying to put her out of the house. This would mean evicting his own son." Tompkins' lawsuit asks the court to rule she has the right to live in the multi-million dollar property, which is in the upmarket Long Island neighbourhood of Dix Hills. In February (08), a New York judge ruled in 50 Cent's favour in a dispute with Tompkins over child support for Marquise, reducing her monthly allowance to $6,700 (GBP3,350).
