Figures released by the British Transport police have revealed that 13 arrests were made on the rail network during V festival.

Many festivalgoers chose to travel by train, with a free shuttle bus from Chelmsford rail station and special late-night trains on the final day.

The arrests were all made under the Misuse of Drugs Act resulting in ten people being cautioned and three receiving cannabis warnings.

A further three people were reported for bylaw offences - ticket touting and loitering - while another three were reported for fare evasion.

Dave Roney, acting chief superintendent, said: "The concert attracted approximately 65,000 people each day a lot of which travelled there by rail.

"It was our intention to ensure the safe travel of passengers whilst taking necessary action against those intent on causing trouble.

"We wanted criminals to know they are not safe on the rail system and the public to know that we are taking positive action against anti-social people who disrupt their journeys."

Mobile fingerprinting was used by police officers to verify the details of 47 people who were searched.

Acts at this year's V festival included Babyshambles, Primal Scream, the Coral, the Killers and Lily Allen.
