Zeta-Jones Stalker Claims Douglas Paid Her
LATEST: Actress CATHERINE ZETA-JONES' alleged stalker DAWNETTE KNIGHT claimed the star's husband MICHAEL DOUGLAS gave her thousands of dollars, a court heard yesterday (14SEP04).
The 33-year-old student told Los Angeles Superior Court she had $2,520 (GBP1,400) in her purse when she was arrested because Douglas regularly paid cash into her bank account.
When asked where she got the money, Knight replied, "Michael Douglas," adding the FATAL ATTRACTION star gave her financial help "numerous times".
Zeta-Jones' lawyer, DEBRA ARCHULETA, dismissed the claim saying, "It doesn't deserve comment."
Knight was arrested on 3 June (04) and charged with one felony count of stalking and 24 felony counts of making criminal threats.
The continuing preliminary hearing will decide whether Knight will go before a jury at a full trial, if convicted, she could face up to 19 years in state prison.15/09/2004 13:17
