Zeta-Jones Beats McCutcheon To Dream Role
Welsh beauty CATHERINE ZETA-JONES has beaten LOVE ACTUALLY star MARTINE McCUTCHEON to the lead role in a movie version of GUYS AND DOLLS.
The CHICAGO actress is in early negotiations to play showgirl MISS ADELAIDE in the musical about gamblers in '50s New York, leaving McCutcheon devastated by the rejection.
MIRAMAX FILMS co-founder HARVEY WEINSTEIN promised the part to JONES - after her OSCAR-winning performance with RENEE ZELLWEGER for his studio's musical Chicago.
He explains, "My fondest wish is to reunite Renee and Catherine."
McCutcheon met the movie bosses who are developing the movie, but was rejected because she isn't well-known enough.
