Winner's Unusual Death Wish
Director MICHAEL WINNER wants to be the first man buried in one of London's Royal Parks - but has very little hope of his dream coming true.
White-haired Winner, who is also a food columnist and cartoonist, wants to be buried in St James' Park close to the National Police Memorial he helped to establish in central London.
He says in a postscript to his autobiography WINNER TAKES ALL, "I'm not sure anyone has ever been buried in a Royal Park.
"Actually I think some dogs were! But I shall pursue this vigorously."
But Winner, who is about to celebrate his 70th birthday, is unlikely to succeed.
The Royal Parks Authority says, "It looks like he'll get a no. However, we wouldn't be able to say for sure until an official request came though."
