Winner's Toilet Turnaround

LATEST: Director MICHAEL WINNER invited a cleaner to tea yesterday (30MAY06) to make up for snubbing an honour from British monarch QUEEN ELIZABETH II because it's "what you get if you clean toilets well". The DEATH WISH film-maker was named as an Officer Of The Order Of The British Empire (OBE) in the Queen's 80th birthday honours list, for his work establishing a memorial for police officers killed while on duty. But after his ungracious snub, Winner felt contrite when British newspaper the Daily Mirror picked up on his remark and treated toilet cleaner HILMA DALEY to a day living his luxurious lifestyle. He told her, "I'll write to TONY BLAIR to say you should have an OBE. You can have mine. "You're utterly flawless, which is more than can be said for me."
