Winfrey Plans To Discuss 'Racist' Hermes On Tv

American talk show host OPRAH WINFREY believes she was refused entry to the Hermes shop in Paris, France because she is black, and she is planning to discuss the incident when her TV show resumes later this year (SEP05).

The luxury goods company was forced to issue an apology to Winfrey last week (22JUN05), after the talk show host was turned away at the door of the Paris store earlier this month (14JUN05), while she was shopping for a gift for pal TINA TURNER.

A friend of Winfrey, who was recently named the most powerful celebrity in the US by Forbes magazine, tells the New York Daily News, "If it had been CELINE DION or BRITNEY SPEARS or BARBRA STREISAND, there is no way they would not be let in that store."

Her spokesperson adds, "Oprah does have plans to discuss the incident on air when she returns in September."

ALL stores or businesses have closing time.If its closing time then customers already inside are served to the end and not chased away. Any customer arriving after closing time is strictly not allowed in.If our sister could have made prior arrangement this could be arranged and staff informed. Any claims of overtime payment to staff could be negotiated therewith.

Really I think she is making way too much of a big deal about the whole thing. Why is it that if something bad happeneds it is supossibly because they are black? To me that doesn't make one lick of since. The real reason Oprah is mad is because she didn't get the treatment that she thinks she should get just because she is a celebrity. That is really her problem. And also her friend or whoever it was shouldn't sayanything stupid like she said. I am half white and black and sometimes I get embarrassed whenever I hear them use race whenever something bad happeneds with other people outside there race.

Oprah is lying about this. The 'HERMES' Paris store Security videotape shows clearly that nothing 'racist' was said, or happened.Oprah showed up way after closing hours, while the store's employees were setting up for a special event that night, and Oprah demanded entry to buy a goft for her friend, Tina Turner.Rightly, the store security guard, and another employee, both told her it was after closing hours, and offered her a chance for a private entry the next day. Oprah refused.Oprah says this was "one of the most humiliating events in my life." If that's true, then this isn't somebody who has dealt with much racism. Another spoiled rich person, who is humiliatingly narcissistic.

I am Black. I love Oprah. I love that Oprah was searching for a gift for Tina Turner. However, have we forgotten that the store was closed? If we have, let me remind you all, THE STORE WAS CLOSED!!! I have worked retail. We couldn't kick customers out after closing, however, we did not let anyone else in. The Store was closed!

I agree with you. The store was closed. If they were very rude to her or called her racist names then that would be one thing. If they were letting other people in and not Oprah then she might have a point but I feel that she is really making herself look dumb by making a big deal out of this. She is not God and should not expect special treatment. I have owned my own business and I would not let anyone in after the store closed unless they called ahead and made an appointment. Especially if I had a private event going on. I could not make the customers or people that are waiting for the private event wait even longer just so Oprah could shop. I used to like Oprah but I'm very dissappointed and I can't wait to hear more about her side of the story because so far all I heard is that she is dumb.

Hello To all you naysayers that obviously think Oprah made a big deal out of being denied entry, how would you like security Guards following you everytime you walk in a store, or just being totally ignored by salesclerk. It doesn't necessarily happen only to Black people but with people who doesn't appear affluent and yes they did snub her because she was black. Hermes and all other designers keep stores open after hours for celebrities. Its just she was not the Celine Dion. Oprah is one of the riches womwn and can easily drop 1 million dollars in that store, so like JUlia Roberts said to those snooty clerks in "pretty Woman" BIG MISTAKE! Huge!
