Willie Fights For Better Roads

Willie Nelson is urging wannabe Texas governor Kinky Friedman to fix the state's freeways because the country legend fears they've become the worst in America.

Nelson used to think Texas roads were the best maintained in the US, but now he faces a bumpy ride when he travels through his home state on tour.

He says, "We used to have the smoothest roads in the world. I used to be able to be asleep at night and know when we've crossed into Texas from Arkansas, because the roads got smoother.

"Now we've got the worst f**king roads in the world."

Nelson wants writer Friedman to talk about the state of the roads as part of his bid for office, in return for his support.

He adds, "He's promised (to make me) the head of the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) and the Texas Rangers. So we'll see."
